The word "logistics" is derived from the Greek adjective logistikos meaning "skilled in calculating". The first administrative use of the word was in Roman and Byzantine times when there was a military administrative official with the title Logista. At that time, the word apparently implied a skill involved in numerical computations.
About
Logista was built from the ground up using best practices and lessons learned during the COVID-19 pandemic by emergency response professionals working on the front lines. It was built especially for rapidly deployable teams with horizontal structures, where "make it work with what you have" is the reality of disaster response at the ground level.
Logista’s creators saw first hand how PPE shortages impacted mission sustainability. It was clear that there was a need for logistics solutions that are simple, easy to use, and built on platforms that people already know and understand. This decreases the time it takes to learn the system, frees up manpower, and gives you more accurate data when making decisions that will impact the mission.
What you see now is many hours of work and conversations to meet the unique needs of emergency responses. Logista was designed to be flexible, and it can either augment existing tools or act as a primary tracking system. Deploy it as is, or customize it to fit your specific needs.
